Introduce yourself

Hey my name is Splurge, I’m from Baltimore, Maryland. Been producing for going on 14 years and I use the goated FL studio 11.

How did you first get into producing? What was it that made you steer into the music direction?

I’ve always been into music starting off singing on the Maryland States Boys Choir and the Church choir. But what I really love doing was producing started in the 6th grade, I was always jealous of my older brother cooking up with his friends and not allowing me to do so with him because I was too young.

What software do you use and why? I know every producer has a preference when it comes to software

I’m blessed up on FL 11 it’s fully loaded with 500gb if sounds.

Being from Baltimore, How is the music scene out there?

it’s a lot of under ground heat heat especially producers! But god lifted up artist like Bandhunta Izzy, Shordie Shordie, Deetranada and YBN Cordae. Expect to see some more artist in the next few years to make a mark in the industry.

Would you say that most of people you have worked with have been from the internet or from the area in Maryland? And how have you been able to make those connections?

Most of my placements have been from people I’ve met. The area of Maryland (DMV) is hot right now. What I’ve been doing for years now is copping VIP tickets and networking backstage took me 6 years to really start making noise. But biggest was when I moved to nyc for a year and just  networked like crazy! Prayers to those that’s just trying to start doing this.

Do you have any producers that you look up to or would like to work with in the future and why

Awe man ima do two list frfr.

Goats or People I want to work with:

Timberland, Zaytoven, Metro Boomin, Southside, Lex Luger, TM88, Murda Beatz, Mike Dean, Kanye West, Pharrell, Dr. Dre, Wheezy, Jetson, Take a daytrip, OZ, Tay Keith, Nick Mira, DJ Mustards, Kenny Beats, Cardo, Honorable C Note, Scott Storch, Mike Will, Pyrex. I look up to these producers or want to work with them because they have such a distinctive sound. I feel that if I was to lock in with them we would make hits like crazy.  Also always have a bunch of people compare me to these names and that’s not because of

What about artists / Rappers, Are there any that you would like to produce for and why?

This list is bigger to be completely honest.

I would love to work with Travis Scott, Kanye West, Kid Cudi, Pharrell, Andre 3000, Lil Uzi, Playboi Carti, Migos, Lil Yachty, Young Thug, Don Toliver, Post Malone, Swae Lee, Chief Keef, G Herbo, Nessly, Roddy Ricch, Lil Baby, Drake, Nicki Minaj and so many more. I would love to work with anyone of these artist because all of these artist has the best sound of the decade if I would create with any of these artist we would go so crazy I’m talking diamond records!

There has been producers coming out mentioning that they aren't getting payed. How do you feel knowing your heading into that career, But also fixing the problem of getting producers paid?

I honestly not worried about this because I have a plan to not make music my only stream of income. But if it was my only stream I would definitely put a clause in any agreements that if there is a late time of payment it would be $500 per day of being late from the  delivery date. But my ultimate plan is to have 7 streams  of income with music starting then off.

Speaking of working, You have been working with 909Memphis, How has it been to work with him? And can we expect more from you guys?

Man S/O to Memphis. Love that guy fasho, me and Memphis was working on a tape but we have been both busy but once when we get some financial freedom we going to present something that will set the bar higher sound wise. I love his vibrato and range of pitch and he just saucy tbh, literally any wait!

Do you think you would be in Baltimore forever?, Because most producers or artists move to LA to make even more connections.

I believe that It doesn’t matter where you are one thing about me and how god got me is that I always make a way no matter what state of country I’m in I literally breath music.

Away from producing, Any hobbies or things you like to do? Sports? Video games?

Reading books and continuing my faith I really want to make a difference in the world.

If you were to recommend some food spots out there in Baltimore to a person who is visiting for the first time, What would you recommend?

Great question... I’m not a food person but I would say Ruth, West, Blue Moon, and Hip Hop Chicken, Famous Dave’s.

What is your favorite spot to eat at in Baltimore?

Hip Hop Chicken or Famous Dave.

Any conspiracy theories you believe in?

Nah I don’t believe in not Conspiracy tbh it’s all fake stuff to steer people away from the truth in love.

Are you going to school at the moment or are you 100% focusing on music?

I’m locked in for life this is me a lot of producers y’all see now just started making beats I’ve been at it since I was 10 I’m 23 now.

Back to producing, When it comes to working with you, What are things that artists need to do to get your attention to try and work with you?

If you want to work with me it’s going to have to come with a fee. I charge $5000-10000 per beat but the ultimate purpose is that I know my worth and If I see talent we going to lock in because my love for creating.

What would you be doing right now if you weren't making music?

I would be a Entertainment Markerting Chairmen for Journeys or In the NFL

You have been growing and growing, Where do you see yourself in 5 Years?

Appreciate you I’m no where near where I want to be but I’m humble! I see myself owning one of the best producer group, with real estate properties, investing in my Roth, having 20+ billboard #1 songs, 1 diamond record, 20+ platinum records, 30+ gold records, married with kids.

What about 2020, Any Artists that you would want to work with this year?

Right now I can’t really see that far out but just to make a few Nessly, Young Thug, Southside, Made in Tyo, more Gotit, Keed, maybe Migos, and Don Toliver.

Why are you in FIRSTPLACE?

I don’t care what place I’m in, as long as I put god first and give him the glory I will always be in the race.

That about wraps it, Any last words for readers?

I want to say I love all y’all for all the support y’all have been giving me the movie ain’t even start yet though... keep watching and get you popcorn ready.
