Introduce Yourself

TazzInaShell, A musical artist from Maryland, USA

How and where did you get the name Tazzinashell?

I had a couple names before the name “TazzInaShell”, My mom gave me the nick name “Tazz” which she never called me lol but I just ran with that name. I was a big Chief Keef fan in the 6th grade so my first rap name was “Chief Tazz”. Then I didn’t want to be a copy cat so I changed it to “King Tazz”. That was too plain for me and I wanted my name to have meaning to it. So one day I was sitting at my home studio desk and told my self that I’m going to pick a name that not only means something but something I’ll stick with forever. I was always a kid that didn’t fit in with the crowds so I felt as though I was always “in my shell”. It’s also like the story “The tortoise and the hare”. I’m the tortoise and the majority of artist that’s out now are the hare. They got on quick but may not last long. I’m coming up slowly but surely and will last for a long time. Slow and steady wins the race.

Your from the DMV, So how is it over there? How was it growing up?

The DMV will always be home and a place that I’ll love forever but I feel like I don’t fit in there, I learned a lot growing up there and it made me who I am today.

How did your surroundings shape you as the artist that you are today? If you grew up anywhere else do you think that you would be making music?

I pretty much saved myself as the artist I am today so if I grew up anywhere else I think that I would have still made music.

What are some things that you love and hate about the DMV?

I love how the DMV has so much talent but I hate that most of it goes unrecognized.

Cool, Going into music. How did you start? what made you want to start making music?

Music was something that was always in me but as I got older I started to realize it more.

What would you be doing right now if you weren't making music?

If I wasn’t making music now I’d probably be acting, A videographer, photographer or something to do with the entertainment business.

What Inspired the decision to do "Instagram Comments" ? Why do you do things differently from other artists?

One day I was laying around the crib bored on a normal day and decided I wanted likes and comments on my Instagram. So I posted a picture telling my followers to make a rap in my comments and the rest was history. I do things differently from other artists because I’m Tazz and I’m in my own shell.

Whats Your process of making music? Do you like to be alone or in the studio with the homies and why?

I record my music in my home studio, I make it alone but won’t mind recording with friends around from then and there.

Also, What are some things that you need to have in the studio with you?

A mic, interface and computer.

Are there any go to producers that you enjoy working with or do you like to hit those "Type Beats" on youtube? or even both?

I started out using “Type beats” on YouTube but as I growing as an artist I’ve been working with producers like 808spinz, JaddonTheTrack, Nate G, Cre8 Beats, Rey Salvaje, etc.

Do you like to original sounds in your beats or do you like to sample from other songs or tv shows , etc?

I like original wavy sounds to my beats something like a “Young Thug Type beat”. I wouldn’t mind samples though, I’ve used them before.

When it comes to releasing music today compared to back then, How does the internet play a part in how artists release their music? Even for you, How has it changed how you make and release music?

Music is much easier to get it out there nowadays but it’s also hard because everyone is hopping on the wave. It changes how I release music sometimes because I want to make sure I have an audience paying attention before I drop anything.

Are there any artists that you want to work with this year?

I’ve always wanted to work with Young Thug, Chief Keef, G Herbo and more but those are the first artist that comes to my mind as of right now.

What are some of your favorite artists that you like to listen to on your free time?

Some artist I listen to on my free time is myself, “TazzInaShell”, Young Thug, and Rylo Rodriguez for the most part right now.

Is there any music coming out anytime soon that we should look out for?

Yes, I have a whole lot of vibes and wavy music that’s dropping before you know it.

Where do you see yourself in 5 Years?

In the next 5 years I see myself providing for my family and showing them a whole new life.

Why do you deserve to be in FIRSTPLACE?

I wouldn’t say I deserve it but when I do get there you’ll know I obviously worked to get there.

That about wraps it, Any last words for the readers?

Stay down and be yourself. They’ll catch on sooner or later.
