Dom’s music isn’t for everybody to say the least. It’s only for people of high taste levels and that enjoy elegancy and all that comes with it. Dom is 17 from the Bay Area California but you would never be able to tell judging from his unique sound and riveting vocals. For only being a teenager, his music is very mature and sophisticated. Dom is obviously in FIRSTPLACE. The reason why? You Decide!

Introduce yourself

My name is Dom, my full name is Dominic but nobody really calls me that

How did you get into making music? What are some artists that inspired you to create coming up?

To be honest i was just bored and nobody else that i knew was doing it, so i gave it a try and ended up really falling in love with music. I grew up listening to old school hip hop and r&b (from my dad) and in my early elementary and pre teen years i would listen to drake, kirko bangz, chief keef, future & lil Wayne.

Your biggest song “Mati” seemed to catch the attention of the underground community. What is the story behind that song?

Haha to be real with yall i actually hate that song, it was kinda just a joke that me & Khalil recorded in one night and it ended up blowing up, I’ve had thoughts about deleting the song but it will always just be a staple to me and my old style so i could never.

You mention video games a few times across your discography. How do they affect your life and do they inspire your music?

I grew up playing video games, they’ve always been a part of my life especially as a child. Started off on ps2 with games like duke nukem & space invaders. Then went to Xbox and would play a lot of call of duty, halo, sports games like madden and nba2k, the usuals.

Is there pressure that comes along with being a caucasion artist from the bay area?

Yes definitely, nobody else here really makes the same style music as me, the music scene here is a lot more rap and street based, so it’s hard to get attention for the type of style i have.

Who are your favorite producers to collab with? What is your process of choosing beats like?

Favorite producers to collab with: Kass, Lj, Benjicold, and pretty much any good r&b producers. I start listening to the beats and humming flows and just singing over them and if i like how it sounds then i use it.

You seem to have music in almost every genre of Hip Hop, and even sub-genres like Pluggnb. How are you able to set yourself apart in every style you decide to attack?

I always just like trying new things, i try to push myself as much as possible and see what new sounds i can discover, ever since I started making music ive found so many new genres and sub genres, it’s really amazing.

What are some things you like to do besides music? Any weird hobbies?

Im into fashion, whenever im not making music im either looking online for new underrated designer brands or im out shopping lmao.

You’ve been collabing with Armani a lot recently. What is the dynamic between you two like and what is you guys’ creative process like?

Me & Armani work great together, i really like how our styles go together and how diverse yet similar we are. We’ve built a great bond through music as well. You can definitely expect more from us very soon.

What is 1600?

1600 has been a number that has stuck with me for a good part of my life. I always see the number 16, it’s like a lucky number for me. 16 as a number means independence and positivity, im very independent with my music and i try to be as positive as I can, i really think i can relate to the number and it’s meaning.

You seem to be really into fashion. What are your favorite brands and how does it tie into your music

My favorite brands are number (n)ine, gap, & ksubi. Talking about fashion and clothes in hip hop has always been a norm, it’s part of hip hop in my eyes.

You can be seen going live on instagram quite frequently. Is it important for you to interact with your fans?

Haha yea, or im just bored a lot of the time. But yes im definitely a social person on the internet, not so much in person but i feel like the internet is an escape from reality for me, I can be myself and not be judged as much as I would be in person. I love interacting with people online, especially my supporters.

Great! Any parting words for readers?

Working hard on new music and some new styles, love y’all! Okok
